Desert Wildflowers Photo Workshop

Basic Itinerary

• April 29 - Pre-workshop BONUS day - crash course in how to photograph desert wildflowers (details below)
• April 29 - workshop orientation meeting at 8 PM
• April 30 - May 3 - field trips to a variety of Tucson locations
• May 4 - Post-workshop BONUS day - classroom session for editing, post-processing, and critique (details below)

Itinerary subject to change based on weather.

Daily Schedule

• Each day will include a morning and evening session
• Break after lunch for downloading cards, charging camera batteries, editing photos, and even naps
• Sunrise and/or sunset session may be possible, but are heavily weather depedent and not guaranteed
• Night sky opportunity is also possible, but not guaranteed  

Pre-workshop BONUS Day

• Pre-workshop instruction (10 AM - 3 PM)
• Come a day early and get a crash course intensive in how to photograph the desert flowers using both macro and telephoto lenses. While there will be instruction given during the regular workshop, this will be an opportunity to practice for the types of photos we will be taking on the field trips. The bonus day agenda will be tailored more specifically to the needs of each individual participant.
• Includes lunch, but not dinner
• Registration due January 1, 2022, limit of 4 participants

Post-workshop BONUS Day

• Post-workshop classroom session (10 AM -3 PM, plus evening photo sharing slideshow)
• If you want post-capture mentoring, you'll definitely want to sign up for this bonus day! The priority during the regular workshop is taking the photos, with no time for computer work. This is your opportunity to get feedback and suggestions while you work.
• Individual critique sessions with both instructors
• Includes lunch, but not dinner
• Registration due January 1, 2022, limit of 4 participants

Workshop Fees

EARLY BIRD Registration: $2400 (expires until January 1, 2022)

• EARLY BIRD Deposit: $900

Standard Registration: $2600

• Standard Deposit: $1100

Balance: $1500 (due February 1, 2022)

Bonus Days: $800 each (due January 1, 2022)

• Includes both bonus days and the regular workshop $3700 (full amount due January 1, 2022)

What is included in the workshop fee?

• Supportive instruction with two professional photographers
• Small group size
• Lodging at a unique Airbnb in the Arizona desert (many photo opps on-site)
• Lunch and dinner
• Water and snacks

What is not included in the workshop fee?

• Transportation
• Breakfast
• Photography equipment

Photography Experience Level

Participants should have working knowledge of their camera and lenses. 

Travel Insurance

I recommend purchasing travel insurance with a cancel-for-any-reason policy to help secure your investment. You can purchase trip cancellation insurance for as little as $40. Use a site like insuremytrip.com to compare plans against one another.

Activity Level

This is an easy workshop.  Walks are on well-maintained gravel or sand trails. 

Getting to the Workshop

Tucson is the most convenient, but Phoenix is also an option if the airfare works in your favor. Phoenix is about 2 hours north of Tucson.

Weather

In the event of bad weather during a workshop we will spend the time editing our images, working on digital workflow in Lightroom, and doing slide show presentations.

There are no refunds for inclement weather during a workshop.

Other details about this workshop will be given out through the workshop Facebook group.  You will be added to that group when your deposit is received.
